PORTLAND, Ore. -- The George Fox track and field team, hosted the field events on Friday afternoon and then traveled to Portland to compete in the track events at the Portland Distance Carnival.
How It Happened
On Friday, the Bruins had multiple top results, starting with Fox taking the top four spots in the women's pole vault.
Alison Young,
Payton Davidson, and
Grace Tully cleared 3.60m. Zeke Sikkema and
Mauhia Kimata grabbed second and third in the men's pole vault.
In the women's triple jump,
Emily Crawford took second place with a jump of 9.41m.
Dieumerci Migani jumped 13.66m in the men's triple jump, which was good for second place. In the men's long jump, the Bruins grabbed the top five spots, with
Cameron Seymour leading the way with a massive leap of 7.41m. On the women's side,
Victoria Azar took second place with a jump of 5.35.
Chrissy Strickland had a great throw in the women's javelin at 46.33m, which placed her first.
Ellie Corwin got second place with a throw of 40.96m. In the men's hammer throw,
Ben Meade threw for 43.93, which was good for second place.
Tahnisha Manibusan had the same placement on the women's side with a throw of 45.03.
On the track Saturday afternoon, the Bruins had two runners come in first place in their respective races.
Connor Hatch won the men's 400m hurdles with a time of 58.22, and
John Ojukwu won the men's 100m with a time of 11.14.
Five more Bruin athletes placed in the top three in their races.
Kayla Aalpoel placed second, completing the women's 10,000m in 37:12.14.
Ayahna Bahati placed second in the women's 100m hurdles with a time of 15.88.
Jessica Neal finished third in the women's 3,000m steeple in a time of 11:06.63, improving on her school record.
Byron Morris placed third in the men's 200m with a time of 22.12.
Gavin Grass also performed well, moving up to No. 14 in the nation.
What Happens Next
The Bruins will return to Stoffer Family Stadium on Thursday, May 18, for the George Fox Final Qualifier.
