HILLSBORO, Ore. -- The George Fox football team wrapped up their 10th full season since the program's return in 2014, ending the seasons with 10 athletes on All-Northwest Conference teams.
Three players were named to the first team, two to the second team, and five were honorable mentions; of the 10 athletes, there was a perfect split on the two sides of the ball—four on offense, five on defense, and one on special teams.Â
"I'm very proud of our guys," Bruin head coach
Chris Casey, "They've accomplished at a very high level, and it's such a nice honor for them to receive all-conference recognition. Ultimately, it's always thanks to the full team that leads to these individual awards as well."
Kyle Osowski was the first Bruin to pick up a First Team All-NWC honor, doing so in his fifth year at the center position. Osowski helped guide a line that dealt with injuries throughout the season, picking up his first career first-team award.
On defense, two Bruins were named to the first team —
Kiegan Schaan and
Noah Tack. Both athletes finished out their careers with successful fifth-year senior seasons. Schaan finished his fifth season with 33 assisted tackles and 62 total on the year; in addition, he blocked three kicks over the past two games, including two PATs that were returned for conversions. Tack, meanwhile, set a program record for sacks in a game with four against Willamette and ended his Bruin career with nine sacks, 14 TFLs, and 88 tackles.
Two additional players,
Kuyper Assink and
Nash Wylie, were named to the All-NWC Second Team. Assink put together a solid freshman campaign on the defensive line, finishing with 9.5 TFLs and 4.5 sacks — most of which came in conference play. Wylie earned his third overall all-conference honor, finishing his career with 238 tackles after a season that saw 73 tackles, one forced fumble, and one interception.
Five additional players were named All-NWC Honorable Mention, with
Taylor Saben earning the first honor. Saben was effective as both a running and receiving back, recording a team-high 431 rushing yards and 268 receiving yards alongside nine touchdowns (eight rushing, one receiving). The junior, who earned his third appearance on an All-NWC roster in three years, broke the school record for all-purpose yards in a game with 243 against Puget Sound.
Thomas McMillan and
Elias Polanski rounded out the offensive players to receive an award. McMillan proved useful as both a blocking tight end and a spot situation pass-catcher: the senior averaged 17 yards per catch. Polanski rounded out his fifth-year season with his first career All-NWC honor, recording a team-high 435 yards with one score.
Riley Rutledge was the lone special teams player to make the honorable mention team. The freshman was second in the conference in punting yards with 1,786, forcing an NWC-high 21 fair catches.
Nolan Martin finished out the 10 Bruins named to an all-conference team with an honorable mention award on defense. Martin ended the year 75, leading the team with two interceptions.
The Bruins as a team finished with a 4-6 record and will look to come back stronger than ever in 2025. Stay tuned for season ticketing information and a full schedule release in the spring.
