ROCHESTER, New York. -- Senior
Ellie Rising represented George Fox on the national stage on Friday, running in the 800 meter race.
How It Happened
Rising finished the race with a time of 2:11.65, finishing fifth in a competitive heat (Rising was one of six runners within six-hundredths of a second of each other). Her time was good for 11th place overall of the three heats of the women's 800 meter race, which was not enough to qualify for the final.
Rising's 2:11.65 was only .61 seconds off of the second place finisher from her heat, which would have sent her as the top two finishers from each heat qualify for the finals automatically. Nonetheless it was a fantastic end to her senior season, wrapping an end to a legendary indoor career – Rising owns the record for fastest indoor 800 and mile in school history, with times of 2:09.80 and 4:56.86 respectively.
What Comes Next
Rising and the rest of the Bruins will travel to Santa Barbra, Calif. On March 20th through the 22nd to compete in the Klien/Nwaba Combined events and the Westmont Warrior Classic.
