Were it not for his selflessness, Andy LaVeine would have been ranked significantly higher on the all-time lists for records in men's soccer at George Fox. To help shore up the Bruin defense, he moved from high scoring midfielder to defender for his senior season, thus sacrificing many scoring opportunities. In spite of his defensive status for the last year of his collegiate career, he still ranks third in career assists with 32 and fifth in career goals with 37. His accomplishments did not go unnoticed as he was honored as a two-time NCCAA AlI-American in 1986 and 1988. The rewards did not end there, as he led the team to the NCCAA National Championships and was named NAIA District 2 Player of the Year in 1988. In  addition, he was named Academic All-American in both 1987 and 1988 . During the 1990 season he served as a George Fox men's soccer assistant coach. For a number of years after graduation, he continued to play at the highest level of amateur soccer in the  United States. In addition to his involvement in soccer, LaVeine was a member of the men's basketball team for the 1987-88 season.
