Hall of Fame
A three-sport standout at George Fox, Bill Hopper was best known for his contributions to the basketball program. When his playing days ended, he was the all time leading scorer for the Bruins with 1,731 points, over 600 ahead of the next closest person. His mark stood for 20 years, and his point total is still good for a spot in the top five all-time scorers at George Fox. Another record he held for many years was for the most points in a game (42), which he achieved in 1956. He also played quarterback for the football team, and was a pitcher and outfielder in baseball. He served the university as both Alumni Board president and as Bruin Club president. A public administrator for the state of Oregon, he has taught a "Public Welfare in the U.S." class at George Fox. In 1970 he was named one of the "Outstanding Young Men of America."
