After distinguishing herself by earning 14 All-America awards, Jill Beals became the first George Fox athlete to be inducted in the NAIA Hall of Fame in 1998. In cross country, she was the NCCAA national title holder and led the Bruins to four top-10 team finishes during her four-year career. In track, she holds team records in  the 5,000 meters, 10,000 meters, and half-marathon. She was a three-time NAIA champion in the 10,000 meters, while placing second and third in the 5,000 meters. The capstone of her career occurred as she set the national record for the NAIA 10,000 meters during her senior season. Her NAIA individual  honors included twice being named NAIA District 2 Female Athlete of the Year (1991 and 1992). She was named GTE-CoSIDA Academic All-America Women's College Division At-Large First Team in  1992. As the winner of the prestigious Seattle Marathon in her first attempt in 1992, she was one of six 1992 Hayward Award finalists, given to the top amateur athlete in Oregon.
