Chad Neeley established a reputation as one of the finest sprinters in the country during his time with the Bruins from 1974 to 1978. In 1977, he won NAIA District 2 titles in both the decathlon and the 400  meters, and another title as part of the 4x100-meter relay team. The following year, he won the  District 2 400-meter title and was a major contributor on winning teams in the 4x100 and the 4x400 relays. He placed second in the intermediate hurdles and earned All-American honors at the NAIA National Championships in 1978. He holds individual school records in the intermediate hurdles and the sprint medley, and is a coholder of records with the 4x100, 4x200, and 4x400 relay teams. He also served as a Bruin assistant coach for several years after graduation.
