Back-to-back runner-up finishes in the discus throw in the NAIA National Championships earned Paula Wittenberg All American honors in her sophomore and junior seasons. As a junior, she tossed the discus 145  feet, 1 inch to place second in the nationals, while her throw of 147-9 as a sophomore  was just one inch from the top spot. As a junior, she hurled school- and NAIA District 2-record 151-1. Three times she was crowned discus champion of District 2. She was named George Fox's Most Improved Athlete in track and field in 1984, and was the team's Most Valuable Player in 1985 and 1986. A 1987 psychology major, she now serves as the county sheriff in her hometown of Circle, Mont.
