Slugger Nate Barnett became the first Bruin ever to earn First Team AllĀ America baseball honors, being named to the NAIA All-America teams in both 1997 and 1999. He was the Ā NAIA Far West Region and Northwest Conference MVP in Ā 1997, and was named to the NAIA Pacific Northwest/ Far West All-Independent Section Team in 1999 . He is the NAIA coĀ record holder for single-game home runs (4), grand slams (2), and RBI (13), all in one game vs. Puget Sound. He led the NAIA in home runs (22) and RBI (76) in 1999, both George Fox records which still stand. A four-time AlI-Conference selection at first base, he was also an honorable mention selection as a pitcher in 1997 . He is the all-time Bruin record holder in home runs (50), RBI (222), total bases (438), and walks (113), and is second in batting average (.425), runs (169), hits (239), and on base percentage (.52 2). In Ā addition, his 25-8 career record places him third among all Bruin pitchers while finishing his career with a 3.28 ERA. Nate was named the George Fox Male Athlete of the Year in Ā 1997-98, and following his senior season he signed a professional contract with the Seattle Mariners.
