Liz Stephens Thompson was a two-time NAIA All-American track athlete and one of the school's best all around basketball players. At the 1996 NAIA National Championships, Thompson finished fourth in the 400-meter hurdles and ran a leg on the fourth-place 4x400 relay. She graduated with school records in  the 100-meter hurdles (14.88),  the 400  hurdles (61.29), and the 4x400 relay (3:46 .06) . She also ranked in the school top 10 in the heptathlon, 400  meters, 800  meters and long jump. Thompson played in every game of her basketball career (113), more than any other player in George Fox history .  As a senior, she helped the Bruins to their first-ever Top 25 national ranking. She was the fifth George Fox player to score more than 1,000 points in a career, finishing with 1,197. She finished her career ranked in the top 10 of seven season and  career record lists, including fourth in career scoring (10 .6) and rebounding (5 .0). After graduating, Thompson has served as an assistant coach for both the basketball and track teams.
