George Fox athletics would not be where it is today without the help of. Dr. Stanley D. Kern. Dr. Kern regularly made room in his schedule for George Fox students who were referred to him by the school nurse, and served in various roles ranging from football team doctor in the 60s to the men’s basketball physician in 1985. He regularly made room in his schedule for George Fox students who were referred to him by the school nurse, and he went on to be a member of the George Fox board of trustees for a period of five years. He continued to have an active interest in the University, often being seen at various athletic contests and other university functions. Incidentally, his daughter Laurie is a long-time member of the library staff at George Fox University, while his son, Kyle Kern DMD, donated dental equipment for football (mouthguards) when introduced in 2014 at the urging of his father.
