Scan the George Fox baseball record book and you will come across Bo Thunell’s name 15 times. A career .396 hitter – the No. 4 highest all-time average in school history – Thunell was a key contributor to Bruin teams that consistently finished at or near the top of the Northwest Conference standings.

In his final season, 2009, Thunell earned Rawlings/American Baseball Coaches Association All-America Second Team honors, as well as All-West Region First Team recognition, in helping the Bruins share a NWC title, place second in the NCAA Division III West Regional Tournament, and earn a No. 12 national ranking after going 36-11 overall. It marked the second time he won All-America accolades, following his third-team ABCA national selection in 2006.

Thunell, who owns two separate school records for single-season hits, also holds the distinction of earning All-NWC honors at three different infield positions – as a first-teamer at shortstop in 2006 and second base in 2009, and as a second-team choice at third base in 2007. As of his induction year of 2021, he is among the top-10 Bruins in career sacrifice flies (tied for No. 1), RBIs (No. 6), hit by pitch (No. 6), home runs (tied for No. 8), doubles (No. 9) and single-season doubles (No. 9). He is also No. 11 on the career hits list.
