On the final jump of his collegiate athletic career, Aaron Young unleashed his lifetime-best effort and won the 1996 NAIA national triple jump. His school-record leap of 48  feet, 7.5 inches won the event by five inches and helped the Bruin team finish 10th. The year before, Young earned NAIA All-American honors with a sixth-place national finish.  Young, the 1991 Oregon Class 4A triple jump and high jump state champion, also won four conference titles: two in the triple jump and one each in the high jump and the 110-meter hurdles. He graduated with George Fox's best-ever triple jump, the No. 2 high jump (6-10.25),  the No. 4 decathlon score (6,203), and the No. 7 long jump (22-3).
