Hall of Fame
A three-time NAIA District 2 champion and NAIA National Championship competitor in the 100  meters, Gregg Griffin's national caliber sprinting career peaked at the 1977 National Championships, where he finished fourth with a time of 10.6. His career thus established him as George Fox's all-time premier short-distance sprinter. By today's standards, his fourth-place finish would have earned him  All-America honors. Not only the school record holder in the 100  meters with a time of 10.25, Griffin still holds every class record for that distance. In  the 200  meters, he held the school record for 18  years until 1997, and still stands in second place with a mark of 21.44. He was a part of the 4x100 meter relay teams which hold the top three marks in school history, including a 41.24 record set in 1978. Griffin was inducted into the NAIA District 2 Hall of Fame in 1992. He was also a significant contributor to Bruin basketball, lettering in each of his four years. He later went on to become the head basketball coach at Newberg High School and was selected as the Pacific 7 Coach of the Year in 1996.
